Romance

First we met lucky Jesse, then prideful Rance and now here's Keegan whose heart has been carefully boarded up for several years. Keegan is a survivor who has learned a difficult lesson, love hurts so why bother. Of course he is a fiercely protective member of the McKettrick family and doting father to his daughter Devon. But Keegan's life is going through some catastrophic changes. The family company he has devoted his life to is probably going public putting his career in question. His ex-wife is threatening to take their daughter abroad. And the first love of his life is terminally ill. Faced with this triple threat the last thing he needed was any more complications in his personal life. Enter Molly Shields. Molly is in Indian Rock to try to reclaim the child she gave up for adoption to his biological father and his wife. Leaving behind her successful business she dives headlong into a situation where she is the proverbial duck out of water -- a ranch no less. But she finds Indian Rock a beautiful and gracious place and in time finds that she could settle there if that would assure her claim for her son Lucas. However Keegan isn't happy with Molly's appearance because it will undoubtedly cause heartbreak to his ill friend, Psyche, who happens to be the adoptive mother. Psyche has a plan that pits Keegan against Molly and the prize is Lucas. Someone will win and someone will once again walk away with their heart broken. The question is who.

MCKETTRICK'S HEART is the final installment of the trilogy and although I enjoyed them all I have to admit this is my favorite. Once again the McKettrick's clan works like a well oiled machine and the family saga continues. But you can't help but fall in love with these special, vulnerable people who have so much to gain and so much to lose. Our impression of Keegan in the first two books is one of a tough corporate businessman with little time or need for anything else. Once you get to know him you realize he is the McKettrick with the biggest heart and of course the bigger the heart the more vulnerable you are. Miller infuses Keegan with a beautiful soul that is eloquently illustrated in this lovely story. Enjoy all three.

SUMMARY

Keegan McKettrick echoes Kade, the serious, bookish and stone-sexy town marshal in Shotgun Bride, and Keegan has learned the hard way that women can’t be trusted. The only female in his life is the young daughter he sees all too rarely, and his sole passion is for overseeing his family’s corporation. Until beautiful but mysterious Molly Shields comes to Indian Rock on a mission, and keeping a suspicious eye on her becomes Keegan’s full-time hobby.

Molly doesn’t know why she’s attracted to a man who’s determined to dig up dirt on her, even if he is gorgeous. But cynical Keegan might be the one person who can truly understand her shadowy past. If the two can risk opening their hearts, they just might forge a brighter future.
