Born in the Highlands but raised by his mother in England,
Gareth made an oath never to return to Scotland after
the "accidental" death of his English "outlander" father.
When Gareth receives a summons from his grandfather, he
leaves his home in Britain and travels north to see what
ails the old man, other than advanced age and oncoming
senility.
Traveling with his cousin, Marcus, and their old tutor,
John, Gareth comes upon a small cut glass bottle. Red as
blood, it catches his eye, so he picks it up deciding to
keep it for luck. That night Gareth's party is attacked and
slaughtered. Only Gareth survives, saved by what or who he
cannot say. There is an elusive memory teasing at the
corners of his mind, but every time it's within his grasp,
it vanishes and all that remains is the pain from his
wounds. As Gareth begins to regain conscientious, he
realizes that he is not alone. A beautiful young woman is
with him in a dark isolated cabin tending to his wounds and
keeping him fed -- his Angel.
Roxanna is no angel. She's been a vampire for a long, long
while. Released from her bottle, much like Aladdin's
djinni, Roxanna re-enters the world of man ravenous to
feed. And feed she does, with a bloody vengeance.
Slaughtering the small party of men, she keeps Gareth. And
not out of pity, but to cache for food later on. Feeling
sorry for the wounded man, Roxanna can't bring herself to
use Gareth for food, although she has other appetites just
as strong that she doesn't hesitate to slake using Gareth,
who remains in a semi-dream state. Roxanna clouds the
knight's memory, so he has no recollection of her killing
his attackers. He also has no real memory of the lovemaking
that's gone on between the two of them. He thinks it's all
a dream. So to Gareth, she's his angel -- his protector.
When Gareth finally discovers Roxanna's secret, it makes
little difference to him. He still wants her and asks her
to stay with him. But Roxanna has a quest. She's searching
for her vampire father, and she will not put Gareth in
harm's way by remaining near him.
So Gareth goes to his kinsmen and Roxanna travels to the
edge of Hell in search of Kivar, the demon who sired her.
When it becomes obvious the two have a common destiny, they
come together. Destiny owns them, but passion drives them
with a fury. And in the end it will take both mortal and
immortal, standing together, side by side to defeat Kivar
and bring their quest to a satisfying conclusion.
Lucy Blue (aka Jayel Wylie) has successfully
combined vampires with knights in shining (and sometimes
not so shining) armor. The quest for the chalice continues
in this, the third novel in her Bound in Darkness series
and brings back characters from the previous two books, THE
DEVIL'S KNIGHT and MY DEMON'S KISS. Blue's loyal readers
will be delighted by BLUE ANGEL's stunning climax. An
intense, emotional story and an immensely enjoyable series.
A deadly quest . . .
The sworn knight of an English lord, Gareth returns to the
Highlands to pay a debt of blood to his uncle, the man who
killed his father. But when his uncle's men murder his
companions and leave him for dead, a mysterious beauty
rescues him. Tender one moment, cruel the next, she
bewitches him to his core.
A hidden desire . . .
Roxanna, a vampire princess, is sworn to break the curse
that banished her kind to the dark. Awakened from her years-
long slumber by Gareth's voice, she preyed on his attackers
and kept him alive only to feed her hunger. But every night
with Gareth makes her want him more, not just as a lover
but as the soul mate she has never known. Together they
will achieve both their dreams . . . or be lost to the
darkness as one.
