Christine Powers is a marketing executive who takes a
little time away from her busy office to care for her
grandmother Ella while her parents are on vacation. She
arrives at Mackinac Island preoccupied with her work, and
is thrown for a loop when her grandmother's male boarder,
Will Lambert, picks her up. She finds it odd that her
grandmother has a boarder and she even questions his
intentions. With the obvious love between her grandmother
and Will, Christine feels left out. Will she be able to
take proper care of her grandmother with her work weighing
so heavily on her? Will she be able to accept Will as he
is without any hidden agendas?
Will Lambert is a local business owner who does not have
much business in the winter. When he agrees to pick up
Ella's granddaughter, he is not sure what to expect. He
has met her parents and knows that she was raised in a
Christian household, but his first encounter with her has
him doubting her Christian faith. When she sees his
business, she has immediate ideas on how he can market his
product during the winter. He is satisfied with his
lifestyle, and has no desire for such drastic change. As
he becomes better acquainted with Christine, he is certain
that she is the one God has chosen for him. Will he be
able to compete with the job she obviously enjoys? Will
he be able to convince her that they are meant to be
together?
Gail Gaymer Martin has chosen the perfect season in which
to set her story. Christmas is a time of new beginnings,
and Christine goes through a period of restructuring in
her life. She knows Will has an amazing faith and she
struggles to find her balance. She needs to make her
peace with God and restore her faith before she can handle
the situation she finds herself in. The supporting
characters, especially grandma Ella, are wonderful and
help aid the couple in their journey. I enjoyed the
holiday tale, and I love the Christmas season in which it
is set. WITH CHRISTMAS IN HIS HEART is a wonderful
romance that shows that God has a plan for everyone.
Caring for her grandmother was a labor of love, but busy
executive Christine Powers worried about the paper piling
up in her office. And no sooner had she arrived on
Mackinac Island during the frantic holiday season than her
haughty attitude was challenged by Will Lambert, her
grandmother's enigmatic boarder. His laid-back style grew
on her, as did his steadfast faith in this season of joy
and wonder. But an ultimatum to return to work or lose her
job forced Christine to decide between her heart and her
career.
