With cellphones and laptops always on the go, the famous film producer, David McKay, was a man used to getting the results he wanted in negotiations. Yet, despite his best entreaties, he was not able to change his 73 year old Gran's mind about going on horseback to the happy spot Geneva had spent on her honeymoon with her beloved Herbert, and now wanted to go to spread his ashes there. As if that wasn't hard enough to swallow, the person taking her on the trailride was none other than his teenage sweetheart, Adriana D'Angelo who he lad left ten years ago to pursue his dreams of making films. Addy with her dancer's body and tangle of beautiful black curls looked as lovely as ever despite her annoyance at seeing him.
Determined to keep his only family member safe, David makes an uncharacteristic decision and says that if she won't change her mind about going, he would go with them. For her part, Addy is thrown by how she will handle things for two whole weeks with David along. Just seeing him sent her heart spinning, yet, she could never let him hurt her again after he left her in such a desolate situation. Meanwhile, Geneva and Sam D'Angelo have plans of their own that don't include Rosa, Sam's wife.
In this final book of the "Heart of the Rockies" series, Ann Evans has pulled together a nice twist on the "meeting up with teenage love again" theme by having the secondary characters involved in some sub-plots of their own and highlighting their love story. Set in Broken Yoke, Colorado, this is an intriguing read on its own or for fans of the whole series. You'll be certain to enjoy the interplay and badgering as David and Addy send sparks flying at each other. You will also delight in the development of their growth as characters as they explore their feelings for each other as well as their relationships to other family members. Enjoy!
David McKay had put Broken Yoke behind him ten years ago
when he'd left to pursue his careerβbut that changed when
he promised to help his frail grandmother fulfill her
husband's wish to have his ashes scattered over a
mountaintop.
He'd expected the two-week pilgrimage to be tough, but it
got even tougher when the trail guide turned out to be
Adriana D'Angelo, the high school sweetheart he'd
sacrificed to his ambition and still couldn't forget.
Of course, neither he nor Addy ever dreamed that two
people who were no longer in love would enjoy the strange
twist of "fate" that brought them together againβ¦.
