Contemporary | Contemporary Chick Lit

People hate Sadie Price and she knows it. She is a paparazzi in New York City. Although she spends her time pursuing and photographing celebrities, she's not as scummy as some of her competitors. Sadie is very good at what she does -- her nickname is Killer -- and she often works in tandem with an autograph hound. To complete her small circle of friends, her roommate is a celebrity gossip junkie, and they all take a special pride in seeing Sadie's photos published in the tabloids. At least until the morning that Sadie is shocked to see a photo of herself in the tabloids. And later that week, more recent photos of her appear in print. Worst of all, the photo captions all claim that Sadie is the secret girlfriend of a Hollywood hunk. Sadie becomes a recognized-on-the-street-by- strangers "It Girl" overnight. Sadie knows she's made plenty of people mad with the photos she's sold, but who would have the connections to pull this off? Someone is stalking Sadie's private life with a camera, and seeing the stealthy photos of herself everywhere is making her question the wisdom of her current profession. And as long as everyone hates her for what she does, how will Sadie ever find love?

Libby Street is a pseudonym for the dynamic writing team of Sarah Castellano and Emily Morris. Lucky for us, these women clearly know (and love) their celebrity gossip. They give us fast-paced dialogue and hunky actors who are surprisingly real. Turning the tables on an invasive celebrity photographer and offering her up for public scrutiny is an ironic premise that avoids creepiness because Sadie uses sleuthing and self-reflection to confront the violation of her privacy. Sadie's story is funny and unexpectedly touching, with plenty of celebrity name-dropping to keep things interesting. This ACCIDENTAL IT GIRL deserves to be in the spotlight!

SUMMARY

No one ever dreams of capturing celebrities on film as a
career, including Sadie Price, who always wanted to become a
professional photographer. But sometimes, things don't
always go as planned. Sadie spends her days and nights
tracking the rich and famous, hoping to get that perfect
shot, but when she runs into Ethan Wyatt, one of Hollywood's
hottest young hunks, everything screeches to a halt. After
freezing up instead of taking the picture, she starts
questioning her choices, and wondering whether she's crossed
the line in this line of work...
