For the past several years, Bailey Weggins has been under contract with Gloss to write crime and human-interest stories for the magazine, which is headed by her friend, Cat. With slumping sales, Cat has to make some changes in the focus of the magazine, so Bailey finds herself without a job.
However, Bailey's job search is short-lived following drinks with her old friend Robby Hart, who's now an editor at the hot celebrity gossip rag, Buzz. Robby wants Bailey to write about celebrity crime in a more journalistic way, so as to improve the magazine's reputation. The head of Buzz is Mona Hodges, and she's a force to be reckoned with in the industry. When Mona is found murdered in her office late one night, the prime suspect becomes Robby. It doesn't take Bailey long to become involved in clearing her friend's name and in solving the crime, like she's done in the past. Of course, there's a long list of probable suspects, as it seems everyone Mona ever knew wanted her dead.
Once again, the intrepid Bailey Weggins comes out a winner, even if her life is sometimes in chaos. In this fourth installment of the series, White has written another page- tuner with a great cast of supporting characters.
