Happy Birthday! I know where you are coming from. I,too, was asked for my
ID well into my 30"s. Savor it. There are many times I wish that youthful look
was still present. At almost twice your age, I have learned to enjoy every
stage and do it on my terms. I was always the odd one and finally decided I
was good with it. I enjoy who I am and if they can't appreciate it, it is their
problem. That doesn't mean I have an in-your-face attitude. It is just more
of a live-and-let-live point of view. We would all be better off if we learned
to appreciate what is special about each other.
Enjoy your sons and rowdy rescue dogs. The time with your family when they
are young is so short. The dust bunnies aren't going anywhere. They will
grow and reproduce without your help. Beating them back on occasion is
enough for now.
You are fortunate to have the job you do. Indulging my inner Peter Pan and
vivid imagination was always something I wanted to do.

Do exactly what you want to do on your birthday . Life is way to short , believe me . I'm 70 years old now and can't believe it . I don't look it and I don't feel it . I have more years behind me than ahead of me now . I do what I want to do most of the time . All the house work can wait , it's not going anywhere . It is hard for me to remember how uptight I was when I reached 30, but that was (ahem!) several years ago now, and I have learned to take the years in stride. My best friend's birthday is 3 days before mine, and we still crack jokes about her being more ancient--some things do not change--enjoy them, as well as the changes which do come.

Happy Birthday! Wonderful that you are still carded! ;)Our family tradition is the birthday "kid" selects the menu for the birthday feast. It carries on to this day, despite the fact the birthday "kid" has grandchildren!
