Has the consumer been manipulated by the oil industry for decades?

After finding oil on his father's farm in the late 30s, William Hamilton devoted his whole life to the success of his oil company. When his only daughter informed him of an efficient gasless car engine, he manipulated the inventor to sell him the patent in order to prevent its manufacture. This causes a rift between the two which had not fully healed when the daughter died in a car accident.

As he is about to retire, another gasless engine surfaces and Hamilton plans to once again prevent it from reaching the marketplace. This time, however, the obstacles are greater, not the least of which is the determination of the inventor. Who will win?
