Romance Contemporary

"Love 'em and leave 'em" has been real estate agent Karen Bently's motto for as long as she can remember. She doesn't need a man, except to make her toes curl. Or so she thought, until her longtime crush, Ace pitcher Jerry Smutton, sets his sights on her.

After signing one of the largest baseball contracts in history with the Detroit Rockets, Jerry enlists Karen to help him find the house of his dreams. Their connection is instant and electric, but neither of them is the relationship type. When Jerry proposes a friends-with-benefits arrangement, that suits Karen just fine.

Passionate sleepovers soon turn into long, romantic evenings… Still, Karen and Jerry refuse to acknowledge they're a couple. Karen insists that she's immune to Jerry's heart-melting charm. Jerry's not ready to settle down. Denial is the name of the game, until one pitch changes everything…

Meet Jerry's teammate Chase Patton in The Changeup!

Re: The Ace

The most exciting play of any sport is the last minute game changer. (At least, I assume from the yelling that goes on in the other room. Somehow the yelling at the TV will HELP THEM WIN!)

Ha! Laura, too funny. It's the same in our house...except
somehow the yelling will MAKE THE REFEREE CHANGE HIS MIND!

I love the first comment, so true. In my house we're rugby fans and it's usually a last minute try or drop goal that's the best.

we are baseball fans in our house we love the pirates phillies
NYY we get all excited when we watch the games on tv

I love an infield hit. They are exciting, fast and hard to get unless there is an error on a fielder. I also love when players steal home on a bunt!

Sounds like a great baseball story!

I've just gotten into baseball recently. This story sounds
fantastic!

Baseball is my favorite sport. Go Mariners!
(
Denise Austin 11:24am April 11, 2014)

Hmmm, for me it is seeing the battle to the finish line in NASCAR.
(
Colleen Conklin 1:02pm April 11, 2014)

this sounds good.

Tina Lechuga 1:09pm April 11, 2014)

These are all great! Keep them coming! It sounds like the same yelling and screaming that happens in my house occurs in others! :)

I'm an ice hockey fan, so for me it's the impossible goal or
save. All the more so if it happens in the first or last(!)
few seconds of a period. And the last few seconds of a game?
Holy moly!

As for the yelling at the TV, LOL, I used to wonder why
anyone did that. Then I became a hockey fan and found myself
doing it. Yelling at the refs, yelling at the players
("shoot the puck!"), and all the while laughing at myself
because I KNOW IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, but I do it
anyway. Gotta love the irrational mind of the sports fan. :D

I am not a baseball person really but the un-assisted triple
play does sound too good to be true maybe that is why it has
only happened 15 times.. Me, I am more football, hockey or
basketball.. and there are so many plays... But Yelling at
the TV when you have no voice and your kids and mom send it
to AFV that is something..

I love the base steal. I always hold my breath to see if they make it or not.
(
Cindy Olp 11:43pm April 11, 2014)

I love it when the game is close, and the other team steals the ball and wins (except for when it is my teams -- Lol!)

Cathy Phillips 7:27am April 12, 2014)

I've only been to one baseball game in Jacksonville, FL. Love it when the score is tied and the tension builds. Thanks for the giveaway.
(
Kathleen Beale 11:22am April 12, 2014)

some crazy spectacular catch, or the walk-off homerun or closer striking out the last batter in the World Series or the heartbreaking near-homerun in a crucial game - I love baseball! GO SOX!!! (and all of the above added to the magic rituals we've been keeping at home - doesn't everyone do them???)
(
Beth Fuller 3:03pm April 12, 2014)

The bottom of the ninth, score tied, 2 out, 3-2 pitch.
(
Sue Farrell 3:45pm April 12, 2014)

A grand slam homer with bases loaded.

Marcy Shuler 6:06pm April 12, 2014)

when my team scores the go-ahead points......

Barbara Studer 6:31pm April 12, 2014)

The greatest play was the 1984 Olympic where the US Hockey team was going up against the Russia for the gold medal. This is hockey at its finest.

It's those moments when you know something quite special is
about to happen or has just happened.
(
Mary Preston 5:39am April 13, 2014)

Our team is playing right now - 1-1. I love to see players steal basas.
(
Maureen Glynn 5:44pm April 13, 2014)

The most exciting play of the game is when you are there in
person to see it... It doesn't matter too much what it is as
long as it is a game changer - hopefully in your team's favor
-- and you have good seats!
