Wren MacAvoy works as a coal miner for a domed city that was
constructed in the mid-nineteenth century to protect the
royal blood line of England when astronomers spotted a comet
on a collision course with Earth. Humanity would be saved by
the most groundbreaking technology of the time. But after
nearly 200 years of life beneath the dome, society has
become complacent and the coal is running out. Plus there
are those who wonder, is there life outside the dome or is
the world still consumed by fire? When one of Wren's friends
escapes the confines of the dome, he is burned alive and put
on display as a warning to those seeking to disrupt the
dome’s way of life. But Alex’s final words are haunting.
“The sky is blue.” What happens next is a whirlwind of adventure, romance,
conspiracy and the struggle to stay alive in a world where
nothing is as it seems. Wren unwittingly becomes a catalyst
for a revolution that destroys the dome and the only way to
survive might be to embrace what the entire society has
feared their entire existence.

I've never read a steampunk book before, but would love to give this book a try!! You've captured my imagination - so much in fact, that I read part of your posting to my Husband, who is a die-hard Trekkie!! Love the cover, too!! Congratulations on the start of your series!! Your book sounds wonderful! Thanks so much for the chance to win! (Christine Mead 4:52am November 18, 2012)
Impressive sources of inspiration... your book deserves to go a long way. Anything written from the heart is so much more powerful. I have not read much steampunk yet, as it's still a comparatively new genre, but I have read SF and historicals set in times when coal was everything, and it's great to combine the two concepts. (Clare O'Beara 6:04am November 18, 2012)
I watched old Star Trek episodes with my Mom every week! I can see how that show could inspire you. (Renee Pajda 8:17am November 18, 2012)

Thank you for your post, Kassy. "Ashes of Twilight" has an interesting premise. Sounds like the start of a fascinating trilogy. And I dig the eye-catching cover! Good luck with your new release. (Mary Anne Landers 5:10pm November 18, 2012)
You have a way with words and I like knowing how you get from concept to creating a cohesive line of words to make a story that makes sense. (Alyson Widen 5:30pm November 18, 2012)
What a wonderful thing that you did to have these coal miners to be remembered. Coal mining is a tough and dangerous job but as you mentioned sometimes it is the only job within miles of the community.
Looking forward to your books. (Kai Wong 5:57pm November 18, 2012)
This book sounds great and what a wonderful tribut to your Uncle and others. Look forward to reading this. Thank you. (Diane Castiglione 8:42am November 19, 2012)
