Romance Historical
Esteemed astronomer Alex Christie, the eldest and most steadfast of the Christie siblings, has never possessed his late father's ruthless business drive. But to protect his frail infant son from his cruel father-in-law's bid for custody, the young widower must undertake Sir William Christie's posthumous million-dollar challenge: to make a Glasgow cotton mill profitable. At sea in an industrial world of sabotage and union agitation, Alex meets Polly Gowan, daughter of a famed union leader, who hopes to seize a mysterious saboteur without involving the police. Because a sympathetic mill master would aid her cause, Polly becomes Alex's guide to urban Scotland. From soccer games to pub brawls, Alex sees another side of life, and feels free for the first time to reveal the man--vital and strong--behind his intellectual exterior. Polly is utterly seduced. Their ambitions, however, remains at odds: Alex vows to earn the mill bonus to save his child, while Polly fights for the needs of her people. Is there strength enough in their sparkling passion to bind them together in their quests--and in a lasting love that conquers all?

What I got was it was telling the tale of Polly Gowan and Alex Christie speaking of the weavers union while sitting on a pew in a church. He gets nervous when speaking to her because he is attracted to her and he went to Harvard. Polly is going to help lead the weavers union because her father is ill. and can not. This is on my wish list. I was never good at poetry so I hope I did okay. lol (Patti Paonessa 3:52pm June 25, 2012)

I'll read one of your books any time--as long as I don't have to write anything creative. You'd think that after all the books I've consumed, I'd be able to write a decent review, or even a haiku, or... Well, I can write essays on all sorts of non-fiction subjects, but anything creative?!? Definitely, nyet!!! Not a microgram of my mother's creativity. (Sigrun Schulz 2:38am June 26, 2012)
These haikus describe Polly Gowan and the Weavers Union. Gosh what an awesome cover too Carrie! (Cathie Morton 3:27am June 26, 2012)
Polly Gowan is first, the Weavers' Union, sitting on a pew in a church, Alex, Harvard University in Massachusets, Polly's father who is unwell. I don't write haikus because the strict form is so fiddly with having to count the syllables. Takes the fun out of it for me. (Clare O'Beara 6:43am June 26, 2012)
I can't wait to read this. It sounds awesome! (Rosie Nguy 3:59am June 27, 2012)
