Re: Delicious And Suspicious

Thanks so much for interviewing me, Sharon! It was fun. :)

Great interview, Elizabeth and I'm looking forward to reading your newest novel!
I noticed the authors you referenced all seemed to be women, which got me to thinking there really aren't terribly many men writing cozies these days. During the Golden Age, you had Ellery Queen and the like writing in the cozie genre, but the hard boiled/ procedural mystery seems to to have eclipsed this in current times. Do you have any thoughts about why this is the case?

PS - My favorite "cozy" of all time has to be from the father of Hard boiled, Dashiel Hammett's "Thin Man."

Ike, that's a very good observation. There *are* men that I know of who write cozies--EJ Copperman is one, Jim Lavene (who writes with his wife, Joyce) and Cleo Coyle's husband, who is half of their writing team.

But I think you're right that the number has decreased over the years and men seem to gravitate over to thriller and hard boiled more. Maybe it'll increase because more men are reading cozies than they have in years.

Thanks for your comment!
