Hello Exile is set in the 70s in Moscow, Russia, where the heroine has been denied an exit visa for the seventh year in a row. One evening as she leaves her friend's home, she is arrested by the KGB. From that moment on she is persecuted on the job, hounded by thugs, and kidnapped on the streets of Moscow. Upon release, she attends a secret meeting of Refuseniks (applicants who have been denied exit visas), where she meets the man who will change the course of her life. Frustrated in her attempts to leave the Soviet Union she decides to protest emigration policies. This act lands her in jail where psychological torture is applied to dissuade her from emigrating. A hasty court trial follows where she is sentenced to slave labor camp in Siberia. This Siberian exile will then seal her fate and destiny.
