Lucy Valentine is as smart as can be, as single as you can get, and so not qualified to run a matchmaking service. But when her parents temporarily step down from the family business, Valentine, Inc., it’s Lucy’s turn to step up and help out—in the name of love.

Plus, her rent is due.

Here’s the problem: Lucy doesn’t have the knack for matchmaking. According to family legend, every Valentine has been blessed by Cupid with the ability to read “auras” and pair up perfect couples. But not Lucy. Her skills were zapped away years ago in an electrical surge, and now all she can do is find lost objects. What good is that in the matchmaking world? You’d be surprised. In a city like Boston, everyone’s looking for something. So when Lucy locates a missing wedding ring—on a dead body—she asks the sexy private eye who lives upstairs to help her solve the perfect crime. And who knows? Maybe she’ll find the perfect love while she’s at it…

Re: Truly, Madly

It always shocks me when people say things like, "I looked at him and I knew he was the man I was going to marry." Really? I'm not kidding, I really wanna know, did u know?? Cuz I've never been sure about anything, especially in matters of "romantic love" and I'm not sure if that makes me a cynic or not. But I always hope for it to exist. I just don't see any evidence except in books; but people always say don't believe what u see in movies so I figure it's the same for the stuff I read in books. It's nice to at least have the stories though :)

Bella, I think there are *lots* of people who feel the way you do. I wish I could explain what happened to me, but it's just something that was there. Of course, that doesn't mean my marriage hasn't had the same problems and struggles all relationships have...

And LOL, I told my husband that after I wrote this blog we could never, ever divorce. He's stuck with me. :)

Love at first sight never happened to me in my romantic life, but it sure happened when I met my niece 18 years ago. She was a beauty and still is as a young adult.

I don't believe I've ever
experienced love at first sight
myself, but I'd like to believe
that it's possible.

I think it was love at first DANCE with my husband. Just didn't want that to end. 38 years and still working at this dance ... um MARRIAGE.

I believe in love at first sight. Anyone who reads about the lady whom JFK told he loved her the first time he met her would believe in love at first sight. He was engaged to Jacqueline at the time he met his true love and it is sad to read his letters to the lady he was forced by circumstances to forsake and marry Jacqueline. And the lady fell for JFK also and kept the letters he wrote to her. Yes, love at first sight is possible.

Hey Heather, I also knew the first time I met my husband that I would marry him. It was a great feeling and even though it has only been 5 months it was the best decision I made!

I completely believe in love at first sight. I was 17 when I met my husband on the beach, my friend walked me up to him, introduced us, I looked up at him and my instant thought was; Oh it's you! I'm going to marry you!

25 years and 2 children later we're still going strong. If you ever get that feeling my best advice is do not ignore it.

Love has a spark that can happen at first sight, but generally develops over time. One is attracted to a person more than another, yet it's hard to pin down. It's kindof like when you catch someone's eye and hold the glance a bit longer, because you like what you see and desire to know more.

I knew the first time I saw my hubby too...and I was only 16. I saw him from across the room at a party and wanted to meet him but was to shy. My girlfriend was dating his best friend and arranged a blind date and we've been together ever since....that was in 1971. So yes, I do believe in love at first sight!!!

I fell in love the second my bald, screaming mad little boy came into the world and then years later with my husband of 11 years. We have our moments but I would not trade this life for the world.

I don't believe in love at first site - lust? Yes.
(
Mary Preston 3:46pm March 3, 2010)

I love reading these stories. And really, babies are the ultimate love at first sight.

And for the record, I believe in lust at first sight too. :)
(
Heather Webber 5:17pm March 3, 2010)

I guess yes I do believe in love at first sight. Lust is a whole other matter...
(
Vikki Parman 6:17pm March 3, 2010)

Heather- thanks for the honest answer, I'll keep hoping to get a moment like it, like so many ppl here described.
Lisa Darling- I'm taking ur advice: If I ever get that feeling I won't ignore it.

The dreamer in me wants to believe in love at first site, but I have not experienced it. Now lust at first site...:) that's another story.
(
Robin McKay 7:43pm March 3, 2010)

Lust at first sight. Great title for a
romance, don't you think? Heather,
thanks for sharing! I fell in "love" with
my husband the moment I met him.

Have I experienced love at first sight? Only when it comes to my cats.
(
Mary Anne Landers 8:32pm March 3, 2010)

I met my late-husband on Jan. 6th. We were engaged Jan. 11th. We were married on Febuary 13th. He died two months shy of our 30th wedding anniversary. So, yes. I definately believe in love at first sight.
(
Patsy Hagen 8:51pm March 3, 2010)

Only, when it comes to my
kids. I think you can think
it's love at first sight, but
until you know someone and
trust them, really would you
trust your life and your
future children's life with
that?
(
Lisa Richards 9:07pm March 3, 2010)

I definately believe in love at first sight! I met my husband online, we met finally after chatting by email and then by telephone, and when he came to get me for the first date, I tell everyone he basically never went home. 12 years later we are still very very happy!
(
Brenda Rupp 10:08pm March 3, 2010)

I believe it can happen. It was sort of
love at second sight for us. We went
to high school together for a year or
so, then didn't see each other for 7
years. He was one of many friends
whose fathers were stationed at the
nearby Air Base. I wrote to several of
them once or twice a year after
graduation. I say him briefly after 7
years while stopping to visit my cousin
. He showed up 5 month later and
proposed. No dating, we just realized
we were right for each other when we
first met again.

Though it hasn't happened to me, I do believe that instant attraction can lead to true love, and yes, being soul mates, but the circumstances have to be right as well.
(
Sigrun Schulz 12:05pm March 4, 2010)

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your stories. The romance writer in me is itching to expand some of these love stories into books...
(
Heather Webber 7:05pm March 4, 2010)

I like to think that love a first site it true, can't say it happened to me,attaction maybe but love --no, but the attraction did eventually lead there and to the 3 beautiful children I have today
