Strong romance and Christian writing communities. Romance Writers of America has nearly 10,000 members, more than any other genre writing association, and the American Christian Writers Association (ACWA) has more than 70 active writing groups across the country and holds dozens of annual writing conferences.

Increasing popularity of Christian romance. Also according RWA, Christian romance novels saw a 30% increase in sales in 2004 and now account for 11.4% of all romance novels sold. Book Industry TRENDS 2005 predicts a 50% increase in religious books sales, including religious fiction, over the next five years.

Popularity of romance. According to the RWA, romance books account for more than 54.9% of mass-market paperback fiction sales in the U.S., and more than 50 million Americans read them.

Writing the Christian Romance provides readers with detailed instruction for creating a storyline that is reflective of Christian values without being preachy, and developing virtuous and principled characters who don't seem laughably generic. In addition, the book will show writers how to develop an engaging, passionate, conflict- driven romantic storyline without the use profanity, gratuitous violence, or sexually explicit content. It will teach writers the three threads around which Christian romance is centered: the characters' personal growth, the growth of the romance, and the characters' spiritual growth, which is as irrevocably tied to the storyline as the first two threads.
