Multicultural African-American

Dosha Steele, of Minden, Maryland, and Christian Montero, of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Spain, feel they are contracting a marriage made in heaven. Christian is the son of a Brown Baby (the children of WWII American Black GI's and European women). Even before the wedding there is trouble from one of Christian's relatives and Dosha's ex- fiance. Two nights before the wedding Dosha gets a special delivery package -- a painting of her lying dead in her bridal gown.

Christian is a widower whose wife died in a strange accident which haunts him. His marriage to his first wife, a wealthy beauty, had been the envy of others. Dosha and Christian go to live in Puerto de la Cruz and his grandmother, Socorro, a famous fortunteller, lives with them. From the beginning Socorro has visions of lies and betrayal, dissonance and death. She warns them of some of the things she sees, but frankly tells them there is much that she cannot understand.

Bizarre and deadly events begin to take place and treachery is the order of the day. Christian's father is Puerto's Chief of Homicide, but he is largely helpless until a murder takes place. By then, Dosha has had reason to doubt the depth of her husband's love and to despair of getting him to share his secrets pertaining to his first marriage.

But there is an even stranger ending to this story. Love and lust are intermingled. A savage hunger that cannot be appeased holds forth and someone is determined that Dosha will not come through this alive.
