Catherine Barrera

Catherine Barrera holds a BA from Stanford University and a PhD in Latin American History from University of California at San Diego. She has taught in colleges and universities from southern Minnesota to the California Bay Area. A lifetime devotee of Frida Kahlo, she has spent too many days to count inside Frida's Casa Azul in Mexico City, savoring the magic that unfolds there.

With her debut novel, she is finally able to merge her academic expertise with splashes of magical realism and unbridled imagination. Catherine currently resides in Austin, Texas with her husband and their dog, Pepino.
