William Lychack
William Lychack currently lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and teaches at the University of Pittsburgh. Before he turned to writing Lychack was an accomplished judo player and martial arts teacher, a bartender, a janitor, an editor, a ghost writer, and a Mister Softee Ice Cream Man (“best job ever”). His work has appeared in The Best American Short Stories, The Pushcart Prize, and on public radio’s This American Life. He is the author of five previous books ;and his awards include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Sherwood Anderson Award, a Christopher Isherwood Foundation Award, a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers Selection, a Pittsburgh Foundation Grant, and fellowships from Bread Loaf, Sewanee, and Yaddo.
