David M. Weitzman
David Weitzman was born and raised in segregated, racist Washington D.C. When he was twelve, his parents opened the first non-segregated movie theater in the city and the family was immediately harassed by the FBI. Upon graduating high school, he went to the U. of Chicago and after graduation, taught school in Greece and Paris, and returned to go to law school at George Washington University. He became active in the ACLU and upon graduation, began practicing law in Washington and northern Virginia where he represented demonstrators protesting the war in Viet Nam, Civil Rights demonstrators, and people appearing before HUAC, including Abbie Hoffman and his wife Anita. In 1970 in moved to Berkeley, Ca, was president of the local ACLU chapter, and began representing farm workers in the valley and garment workers in LA. He is married, has seven children, seven grandchildren and is now semi-retired
