Julie Crabtree
Julie Crabtree’s first novel, DISCOVERING PIG MAGIC, won the Milkweed Prize for Children’s Literature in 2008. Kirkus reviews said of the novel, "Crabtree's portrayals both of the charm and power of friendship and of the internal emotional life of a young teen are deft and complex, and her confident pacing never drags." In 2011, THE CREPE MAKERS’ BOND, the sequel to...PIG MAGIC, was published by Milkweed Editions. She anticipates publishing the third and final book of the "Pig Magic Trilogy" in the near future.
Julie also been published in the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, Highlights for Children, MotherVerse, Green Prints, and the American Library Association’s Knowledge Quest magazine. She received her BA from the University of California at Davis in English in 1992 and her paralegal certificate in 1994. She worked as a legal administrator until 1999, when she became a freelance writer. Passionate about cooking and gardening, Julie lives in the Pacific Northwest.
