Two young bartenders are found dead in the Barking Fog Inn and it's up to Crimson Lake's most notorious private detectives to take on the case: disgraced former police detective Ted Conkaffey and convicted murderer Amanda Pharell. Together they will work this case with DI Pip Sweeney. Meanwhile, Ted is perhaps finally getting the chance to clear his name from the kidnapping of a young girl.
The Crimson Lakeย series is a favorite of mine. I loved the first book, but REDEMPTION POINT, is even better. For one thing, I love the dynamic relationship between Ted and Amanda. Also, having one of the main characters accused of being a pedophile (acquitted because of lack of evidence) and being the most hated man in Australia is unusual. Ted was at the wrong place and the wrong time and his whole life were destroyed. His wife took their little daughter and left him, and Amanda is one of few friends he has now. She's also a very, very interesting character. She's the kind of annoying character that you just can't help but love.
REDEMPTION POINT is an engrossing page-turning crime novel. The only aspect that troubled me while reading the book was the diary notes by the pedophile that were interwoven into the story. Some things one just don't want to read about. Otherwise, it's a fantastic book and I can't recommend this series enough.
