Heading the top of my favorite authors list is the writing team of
Christina Lauren. They never fail to amuse me and make me fall in love
with the hero of their books. MY
FAVORITE HALF-NIGHT STAND is no exception. Reid Campbell had
me swooning and laughing out loud at his banter with Millie Morris. He
is sweet, he charms, he listens, he is gorgeous... he is PERFECT!
Millie Morris is a lovely College professor at UC Santa Barbara and her
hangs-out with four best guy friends: Reid, Chris, Ed and Alex, all
professors at the university as well. Too much wine for Millie as they are
discussing the upcoming dean's banquet, a black-tie event with Obama
as keynote speaker. The invite calls for a plus one as there will be
"dancing and couples stuff." This will be a Big Deal. None of the guys or
Millie is dating anyone special so they decide to go online to a dating
service to find dates. The guys get immediate positive and quality
responses but Millie's are "dicks." She decides to change her profile
and becomes "Catherine." Guess who responds and the chase is on.
Yessiree, it's Reid, and their journey to find forever love is full of twists
and turns and what a joy to watch.
Reid is a science nerd and a workaholic. He is obsessed with work,
friends, and family and has no time for dating. He does watch Millie and
after their sexual encounter, it is not long until they move from friends
to lovers. Their connection is super HOT and SPECIAL!
Christina Lauren tells a sweet story with a zany twist about the current
dating scene. I loved all the characters in the boy gang and Millie and
Reid's story is delicious! A non-stop read that I truly enjoyed and look
for more from CL in the near future. MY
FAVORITE HALF-NIGHT STAND is a fun, contemporary romance
that pulls out all the stops to keep you turning those steamy pages
filled with humor that will have you laughing along the way. Another
winner, I loved it! And Oh! how I love Reid!
Millie Morris has always been one of the guys. A UC Santa
Barbara professor, she’s a female-serial-killer expert who’s
quick with a deflection joke and terrible at getting
personal. And she, just like her four best guy friends and
fellow professors, is perma-single.
So when a routine university function turns into a black tie
gala, Mille and her circle make a pact that they’ll join an
online dating service to find plus-ones for the event.
There’s only one hitch: after making the pact, Millie and
one of the guys, Reid Campbell, secretly spend the sexiest
half-night of their lives together, but mutually decide the
friendship would be better off strictly platonic.
But online dating isn’t for the faint of heart. While the
guys are inundated with quality matches and potential dates,
Millie’s first profile attempt garners nothing but dick pics
and creepers. Enter “Catherine”—Millie’s fictional profile
persona, in whose make-believe shoes she can be more
vulnerable than she’s ever been in person. Soon “Catherine”
and Reid strike up a digital pen-pal-ship...but Millie can’t
resist temptation in real life, either. Soon, Millie will
have to face her worst fear—intimacy—or risk losing her best
friend, forever.
Perfect for fans of Roxanne and She’s the Man, Christina
Lauren’s latest romantic comedy is full of mistaken
identities, hijinks, and a classic love story with a modern
twist. Funny and fresh, you’ll want to swipe right on My
Favorite Half-Night Stand.
