Then, their son makes a horrifying discovery out in the barn.
With WILD FIRE, book eight in theย Shetland Islandย series is Ann Cleeves now ending the series. So, it was with bittersweet emotions that I read the very last book. I have loved following Jimmy Perez through cases and I have also loved reading about Shetland. Ann Cleeves has really made me feel like I've been to Shetland thanks to her books. So, I want to say thank you, Ann, for these eight books. It's been a blast!
WILD FIRE is a fitting end to a series. It's a strong book with a sad case. Willow Reeves and Jimmy Perez have to work through some personal stuff while at the same time try to find out the truth about a young girl's death. It's not an easy case, but slowly the truth is revealed which leads to a powerful and heartbreaking conclusion. I always enjoy investigations that pretty much start with nothing and slowly gets it footing as more and more truths are revealed. Jimmy, Sandy, and Willow are a great team, despite some friction between Jimmy and Willow. I will miss them all!
The book ended in a way that made me feel both satisfied and at the same time a bit sad. It has been a great journey and I recommend this series warmly to readers of crime novels. Lucky you all who have yet read this book or have all eight to read.
