Harlequin SuperRomance is one of my favorite Harlequin
lines. The
authors have time to really tease out the stories. PICKET
FENCE SURPRISE by Kris Fletcher was
particularly delightful, with two single parents finding out
what love on
this side of parenting can look like.
I appreciated that Heather had to wrestle with her own demons
throughout, it made the HEA more satisfying, but I can't lie
and say I
wish it hadn't taken her quite so long! Like, I get there's
baggage, but
because I'm new to the series, the resolution felt drawn out
instead of
hard won.
Xander, however, was a winner for me from page one. I adored
how self-effacing he was and honest. It's rare to find
heroes that feel like men I
know and Xander is one of them. I was thrilled to root for
him and
happy he and Heather worked things out after a couple of bumps.
If gentle, closed door romance is what you're in the market
for, then I
think PICKET FENCE SURPRISE by Kris Fletcher will fit the bill.
Heather Jacobs has a lot in common with Xander Sorenson:
they've each got a great kid they adore, and neither of
their paths to parenthood started out easy. So he's the
perfect guy to help her with her plan to seek joint
custody of her daughter. But the perfect guy for her? Not
so much, especially when she's not convinced his reckless
ways are behind him. Plus, he brings out a side of her
that she'd rather keep in check. And then the impossible
happens…
