Jessica Langford is a therapist who's confronted her own
fears and now makes a living as a radio show host, helping
callers confront their phobias. But one night, a single
call from a listener brings back the overwhelming terror
she felt when she was buried alive as a teenager during a
serial killer's spree. The killer was never caught and
seemed to quit murdering after Jessica was rescued.
Now, the call leads Jessica to believe the killer is back
and she's terrified, but determined not to let the fear
threaten her life. Detective Jake Merridan is investigating
the deaths of local girls, but finds no leads. Could the
calls to Jessica be connected?
This is an excellent mystery/suspense/romance, well written
as Ms. Cassidy's work always seems to be. Jessica is a
character you can admire for overcoming her past fears (I
don't think I'd ever sleep alone again after her
experience!), but she's also very real as she bravely
struggles with a present-day, very realistic fear. Jake, of
course, is the typical sexy cop hero -- gotta love him!
You'll be intrigued by the mystery and root for the romance.
Long ago, Jessica Langford endured - and escaped - the
menace of a serial killer who buried his victims alive.
Overcoming this experience, she started her own radio
program, helping those who live in fear to overcome their
pasts just as she did. But then an anonymous man calls in
to her show with knowledge of her experience-and her worst
nightmares. She must uncover the mysterious caller's
intentions before he kills again-and turns Jessica's life
into a living hell.
