Nancy just wants to find her door and go home—but her
parents believe she's mistaken and have now sent her to a
"special school" to get help and perhaps allow her
parents to recover the daughter they remember. However,
Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children is far more than
anyone suspects from the outside. Eleanor West knows all
too well what it's like to have entered another world
through a magical doorway and her home is intended as a
sanctuary for those trapped in the human world, unable to
return. Unfortunately, someone is violating this
sanctuary....
EVERY HEART A DOORWAY is one of those books where
everyone is suspicious, including the narrator. Who can
be trusted when reality has been shifted and the human
rules aren't necessarily the ones you follow anymore? The
characters are quirky and some of the skills they've
picked up may seem a bit distasteful—and yet some
Seanan
McGuire shows us the magical beauty that underlies the
horrors.
EVERY HEART A DOORWAY is a fascinating foray into the
world where the seemingly impossible just might be true.
Seanan McGuire does an excellent job at giving us just
enough insight into various worlds that exist behind the
doorways, and I absolutely love the idea of a map based on
directions such as Nonsense, Logic, Virtue, and
Wickedness. EVERY HEART A DOORWAY proves yet again why I
love each and every Seanan McGuire book I've read and why
I must hurry up and read her backlist that I missed out
on before discovering her. If you love dark fantasy,
don't miss out on EVERY HEART A DOORWAY!
Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children No Solicitations No Visitors No Quests Children have always disappeared under the right conditions; slipping through the shadows under a bed or at the back of a wardrobe, tumbling down rabbit holes and into old wells, and emerging somewhere... else. But magical lands have little need for used-up miracle children. Nancy tumbled once, but now she's back. The things she's experienced... they change a person. The children under Miss West's care understand all too well. And each of them is seeking a way back to their own fantasy world. But Nancy's arrival marks a change at the Home. There's a darkness just around each corner, and when tragedy strikes, it's up to Nancy and her new-found schoolmates to get to the heart of things. No matter the cost.
