SHATTERED is Book 3 in Cynthia Eden's LOST series. I recommend reading the previous book in this series, TWISTED. The two main characters first meet in TWISTED, and Jax Fontaine is also first introduced in that book. As with other books in this series, people and events from the past haunt the present with deadly results.

This LOST series by Cynthia Eden is amazing and she kicks things up another notch in SHATTERED. The chemistry is electric between criminal psychologist Dr. Sarah Jacobs and bad boy Jax Fontaine. Cynthia does what she does best and creates a sensual slow burn and terrific sexual tension of epic proportions. Jax has that perfect dangerous and sexy edge, but more layers to his personality are revealed and he becomes more interesting as the story progresses. Sarah and Jax both have things that scarred them in their childhood, and they recognize similarities in each other that might not be obvious at first. I like that SHATTERED is told from both main characters' perspectives. The trust issues in SHATTERED add to the intensity of the relationship that develops between Jax and Sarah. I love the LOST series, but SHATTERED is my new favorite so far.

Cynthia Eden keeps you guessing as to the identity of the psychopath in the shadows that has it out for Sarah. One of the candidates is her imprisoned serial killer dad. Sarah's father is yet another thing that makes SHATTERED such a fascinating and thrilling story. Murphy Jacobs is an enigmatic madman. Murphy has the twisted logic of Jigsaw from the "Saw" films. However, his relationship with his daughter is perhaps the most bizarre thing about him. Murphy and Sarah almost have the kind of cat and mouse relationship as that of Hannibal Lector and Clarice Starling from THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS by Thomas Harris, but without a sexual component.

SHATTERED is a masterpiece of eroticism and suspense. Each installment of this series is highly addictive and a book to clear your schedule for. With each book, you become more and more emotionally invested in the team members of LOST and eager to see how each of their stories play out. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and furthering my Cynthia Eden addiction.

SUMMARY

In New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Eden's latest novel featuring the Last Option Search Team (LOST), one agent is forced to face her past as she uncovers secrets about the man who may be the key to her future. Criminal psychologist Dr. Sarah Jacobs is all too familiar with the kind of bad boys who belong behind bars. But the dark, dangerous man she meets in the New Orleans underworld is a new kind of ruthless, and all too irresistible. Jax Fontaine doesn't claim to be a good guy, but he's loyal to his own code and brutally honest about what he wants. He and Sarah may be worlds apart, but when they're skin to skin, nothing matters but the heat between them. And when a deranged killer targets Sarah, Jax will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. . . .
