Romance | Amish | Inspirational

Mattie is on her way to Pinecraft, Florida to visit her friend, Leona. Leona is marrying her fiancé, Zack in a week and Mattie goes down early to help her with her wedding plans. Once she gets there, the girls get caught up finding a missing cat along with Zack and his best friend Danny. Last time she was there visiting, Mattie was attracted to Danny and while she goes back home, the two of them write to each other. As time goes by, Mattie's feelings grow for Danny but once she gets to Florida she wonders if she is imagining that Danny cares for her as well. You see, Danny is sending mixed signals and driving Mattie crazy trying to guess what he is thinking.

While reading A WISH ON GARDENIA STREET I felt like I was right there in Pinecraft with the characters looking for Serena the cat who is lost. Shelley Shepard Gray has a way of bringing all of her characters to life so much so that you feel as if you are sitting there eating pie and drinking coffee with them. She creates characters that are very real, funny, fragile, and people you want to get to know better. Shelley Shepard Gray has written a moving story that will capture your heart. Mattie gets her answers from Danny but I'm not going to tell you what they are. Trust me, you don't want me to ruin the story for you.

Once I started reading A WISH ON GARDENIA STREET couldn't put it down. I was sad when the story ended, because I wanted to remain involved in the character's lives a little while longer. Overall, It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. You will laugh, maybe shed some tears, be swept up in a growing romance, but most of all you will be fascinated with one very sweet Amish girl; a girl that sure looks perfect and ordinary to outsiders except sometimes the "simple life" is not so simple after all. I always love reading Ms. Gray's stories and even though A WISH ON GARDENIA STREET was a novella, it was long enough to get me hooked and wanting to read the rest of the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series.

Good things may come to those who wait, but Mattie Miller is confident that great things come to those who go after what they want…and Mattie wants Danny Brenneman. Danny is the reason she's returned to the sunny Amish community of Pinecraft, Florida—well, that and to see her best friend Leona get married.

Mattie's met Danny only once before but she knows the spark between them is sure to lead to something special. Despite a missing cat, wedding day chaos, and Danny himself, she's confident this vacation can only end one way: in an engagement of her very own!
