Juliet "Jules" Capshaw has returned home, expecting her hometown of Ashland, Oregon to be the peaceful, quaint place she remembers from her childhood. Instead, she finds new town and theater board member, Nancy Hudson, stirring up trouble. But why would someone want Nancy dead? Jules has her hands full with the intrigue in her hometown, even as she is coping with the broken heart that brought her back to Ashland.
Ellie Alexander does a marvelous job with the setting for MEET YOUR BAKER! Ashland is such a fun town, centered around a Shakespearean theme and yummy sounding food. I love the innovative recipes and friendly atmosphere at Torte, the family bakery owned by Jules' mom, as we are immersed into the daily lives of a wonderful set of characters. I can't wait to see more of the town in future books as just the tiny taste we get in MEET YOUR BAKER makes me want to visit Ashland again and again.
Ellie Alexander kicks off A Bakeshop Mystery series in great fashion with MEET YOUR BAKER! All the elements I love in a cozy mystery are there- a warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly and likable main characters, and a nasty murder mystery to solve. There's a hint of a romantic triangle building and Ellie Alexander does an amazing job at building depth into the relationships. I highly recommend MEET YOUR BAKER and look forward to reading the next book in this new series!
Welcome to Torte—a friendly, small-town family bake shop
where the treats are so good that, sometimes, it’s
criminal…
After graduating from culinary school, Juliet Capshaw
returns to her quaint hometown of Ashland, Oregon, to heal
a
broken heart and help her mom at the family bakery. The
Oregon Shakespeare Festival is bringing in lots of
tourists
looking for some crumpets to go with their heroic
couplets.
But when one of Torte’s customers turns up dead, there’s
much ado about murder…
The victim is Nancy Hudson, the festival’s newest board
member. A modern-day Lady Macbeth, Nancy has given more
than
a few actors and artists enough reasons to kill her…but
still. The silver lining? Jules’s high school sweetheart,
Thomas, is the investigator on the case. His flirtations
are
as delicious as ever, and Jules can’t help but want to
have
her cake and eat it too.
But will she have her just desserts? Murder might be bad
for
business, but love is the sweetest treat of all…
