Romance Anthology
CUT AND RUN is a new duology written by Lara Adrian and
Tina Folsum. It follows a group of men who are gifted
with premonition -- they get visions of the future and are
able to act on it before the event occurs. The only
problem is, they don't know when the events will occur.
As a fan of Lara Adrian's writing, I knew I wanted to try
this new series out. Since Folsum has her own story and
I've never read her before, it's a nice way to discover
new-to-me authors. I'm very glad I tried this because
both stories were well-written, perfectly paced and also
highly suspenseful regardless of the tighter word count.
Adrian's CUT follows Ethan Jones, a community college
professor who has built a new life that suits him very
well in the few months he has been with Tori Conners.
However, one signal changes everything and he leaves
without a word to essentially become a ghost to the
people who are out to kill him.
Years later when an assassin finds him, he runs into Tori
again and that's really when Ethan's dangerous world
collides with his dream world. Now it's a matter of
protecting Tori and nothing will stop Ethan until he can
ensure her safety.
I'm in love with Adrian's writing style. Her authorial
voice can definitely fit into the Romantic Suspense genre
well -- she has a great talent for timing, suspense and
action to make the perfect story.
Folsum's RUN reminds me a little of a Superman tale.
Scott Thompson is just your average joe, or so you think
until he gets a vision that has tragedy written all over
it. A school bus holding more than a dozen kids will stop
on railroad tracks and be crushed to death unless he can
do something about it. On it along with the kids is
journalist Phoebe Chadwick who has one week to find a new
story to write about or be fired from her job. She
doesn't know that her biggest story is one involving her.
As I mentioned earlier, this is my first story by Folsum
I've read and I really enjoyed it. Gripping suspense, a
hotter than hell hero and a smart and sexy heroine all
make for an engaging read. You can be sure I'll be
looking for more of Tina Folsum's books to try.
Fasten your seatbelts because CUT AND RUN is a fast-paced
thrill ride from beginning to end! The Phoenix Code
promises to be a promising new series.
