Cornelison's book is about following a life path that
wasn't necessarily something planned or necessarily dreamed
about or planned. Life has a way of throwing a curve ball.
People choose which road to take. This is a lovely tale
about reexamining choices. Not an auspicious beginning for any relationship -- not that
Chelsea Harris actually thought there was any real chance
this hunky cowboy would even look at her twice. Except they
had luckily escaped freezing to death in the trunk of her
car after she had been carjacked by an armed escaped
convict. Unfortunately the man who had stopped so innocently to help
a stalled car in this major snow storm wound up right next
to her in the trunk. After being summarily dumped by her boyfriend Chelsea's
self esteem is at an all time low. Can you imagine her
chagrin meeting Jake Connelly in her rather revealing
undies with the newly gained extra pounds in full view.
Sure she had bigger fish to fry -- after all they face
freezing to death in her car unless they managed to get out
and somehow find shelter and warmth from the storm. They also had no means to call for help, no gun for
protection and no real protective clothing -- the convict
had basically left them to freeze to death -- can't sugar
coat that. But they were both smart and resourceful.
Jake was learning quite a lot about this beautiful woman
who kept surprising him with her resiliency. No matter how
dire their conditions were she continued to show how
honestly caring she was for man or beast. Just what kind of
loser was she dating that would be so blatantly uncaring in
his abrupt handling of this amazing woman. If Jake were
looking for a real relationship Chelsea would fit the bill.
But he was a realist -- his life was that of a wandering
warrior trained to ferret out the bad guys. Not good
marriage material. And Chelsea wasn't a one night stand fling kind of woman.
So no matter how attracted they were -- they had to keep
their sights on surviving this storm and hopefully not
confront that convict again. Jake needed to get home to see
his ailing father and Chelsea was supposed to house sit at
her parents. Neither planned on this unexpected detour. Even though this TEXAS COWBOY'S RESCUE is froth with danger
you can't
overlook the wonderful feeling of joy and love infused in
practically every page. Cornelison has written a page
turner that is truly enjoyable from beginning to end. Just
when you think the tale has come to an acceptable
conclusion the author throws still another wrench into the
works and the adventure continues. Anyone who loves cowboys
will love the special ops agent in a black cowboy hat who
is the hero in Cornelison's latest work. But even the
toughest cowboys need a special damsel to save -- and this
is a wonderful story about what happens when that damsel
has the grit to match.
SUMMARY
Taking out bad guys is in Jake Connelly's DNA as much as
strength, fearlessness and Greek-god good looks. So is
rescuing women like Chelsea Harris, who's kidnapped by a
brutal escaped convict. What isn't in the cowboy hunk's DNA,
Chelsea fears, is an interest in relationships—especially
with a jilted size-fourteen plain Jane like herself. With the killer on the loose and a Texas-size blizzard
raging, Jake and Chelsea take refuge in an icy farmhouse.
Sudden sparks between them turn on plenty of heat! But Jake
has sworn to put his black ops career before distracting
emotions. He needs to stay focused to stop the convict's
reign of terror
and protect Chelsea from the danger of
falling for him
