Leaving his family, his home, and his life in Scotland,
Connor Grant has spent his years in service to the King.
England has a never ending supply of wars to be fought, men
to lead, and plots to unfold. Connor has held on to the
dreams of his past and longed for a future with the one
woman he has always loved. Not that he would admit it to
her, for she has hated him since the day he left. Yet
neither one of them has ever married. Being left to watch
over Mairi is one order that he cannot turn away from; for
she is one beauty that has always felt like home. Mairi
MacGregor is the Highlands, she lives it, breathes it, and
has supported Scotland in her every action. When Connor
left her for England her life was never been the same.
Fighting with the rebels has become the only solace to her
broken heart. When Connor arrives at court Mairi knows that
she must protect her heart before he can break it another
time. Will she be able listen to her head or will she allow
herself to follow her heart again?
Almost every story about the Highlands holds a place in my
heart and I was overly delighted that this book was no
exception. While set in England the characters
of the book held their homeland and their heritage in their
hearts, in their speech, and in their every action. The two
main characters were so star-crossed that it was very fun
watching them work through their personal and emotional
issues. I really loved the fact that they were in so much
denial that neither one seemed to realize they had been
placing their lives on hold for each other. The hostility
turned into a steamy romance and whirlwind adventure that
was a pleasure to be a part of. Individually, Connor was
written as more aloof and I was glad that his story
unraveled as slowly as it did. I discovered Connor right
beside Mairi, whereas other books tell the stories as
individuals. Mairi was every woman's wish. She was strong,
she was courageous, and she was as beautiful outside as she
was inside. Her continual battle to keep her home and her
heart alive was something that we all deal with. Maybe not
on the scale that Mairi did, but it was easily relatable.
These two people hated to love each other, yet didn't want
anyone else to have the other one. The display of emotions
was phenomenal! Add in two mischievous matchmakers and they
really didn't stand a chance. I thought that the way Ms.
Quinn wrote the story really helped me to connect to the
characters as they were connecting to themselves. The
writing style was spot on, reeling the reader in discovery
of two people who were discovering themselves. I cannot
rave enough about this, TAMED BY A HIGHLANDER was a
fantastic read!
A LOVER'S PROMISE Connor Grant left his first love in the Highlands, vowing to return after serving in the king's army. Seven years later, he is still fighting for the crown, and his victories are legendary-both in the battlefield and in the bedroom. Yet he's never forgotten his bonnie lass. And he certainly never expected to see her amidst the splendor of the British royal court: beautiful, breathtaking, and tempting him past the point of no return. A LADY'S DESTINY The night he left, Mairi MacGregor banished Connor from her life forever. Now her heart belongs only to Scotland. As part of a secret alliance, she journeys to London in search of information . . . only to find herself face to face with the one man she swore she'd never trust again. Though Mairi's body still craves Connor's touch, she can't forgive his betrayal. But a traitor lurks in their midst and to protect her beloved Highlands, Mairi must make a leap of faith and join forces with Connor-even if it means losing her heart to him again.
