Nicole Whitcomb feels safe leaving for the Denver airport as the snow begins to fall, but soon ends up regretting her decision. The avalanche misses her by inches, but black ice sends her car tumbling into a ravine, half burying her car in rapidly accumulating snow.
Michael Tyler enjoys the solitude of the life he has created in the Colorado Rockies, but there is no way he can ignore the injured unconscious woman in the wrecked vehicle. Though it goes against his better judgment, against his very instincts for survival, he brings her into his sanctuary.
When Nicole regains consciousness, she's taken aback by her luxurious surroundings and her taciturn host. Though he knows he should keep his distance, Michael is strangely drawn to the woman he's brought into his home. And though there are some questionable oddities about Michael and his lifestyle, Nicole is amazed to discover the many things they have in common, until she discovers the one thing Michael has spent years hiding, the one secret that could result in her death.
Syrie James' NOCTURNE is a slow-moving story of star- crossed lovers. Nicole and Michael are haunting characters, each with a past that makes it difficult for them to embrace the future. In each other they find a kindred spirit, and their journey is a well written page-turner. The characters go through a roller-coaster ride of emotions from beginning to end, making this a story that will stick with the reader.
