DUCHESS OF SIN led me on a spinning adventure from ballrooms to brothels, and from games of chance to the irresistible game of love.
The end of a revolution seems to be the beginning of the end for the Irish people. In Dublin, Irish tempers are rising on all sides. As men are fighting over the freedom of a country, Lady Anna finds her freedom is also coming to an end. Raised to be a society hostess by her mother, Anna wonders if that is all she is to be. Will she be a mere trophy or ornament for a husband? Anna longs for purpose, true love, and (above all else) a life partner to stand beside her. Would a life married to the season's catch, Grant Dunmore, give her all her heart desires? Or is the fire she feels for the mysterious Duke of Adair enough to keep away the cold?
Conlan Adair knows that his mission must remain a secret. His cause and his fight for the people of Ireland threaten to jeopardize his very life. However, when a golden beacon from the past reenters his life, Conlan suddenly finds that he is fighting for more than just his people. Conlan fears that he is fighting his heart. The more he intends to push her away, the more he finds he can't resist the witch in his arms.
DUCHESS OF SIN was a truly remarkable book that I could not turn away from. Much to my delight, I found that I had read from cover to cover in one setting! I loved how Laurel McKee was able to include Irish history into the story. An Irish romance was remarkably refreshing, the Gaelic lore and old words enriched the story, making it a one-of-a-kind read. Truly an amazing tale, a love to warm the heart and an adventure that never ended. I found myself enraptured by Conlan and Lady Anna, by the surprising love I felt for the Angel of Kildare, and the strong desire for the next story.
Blonde and beautiful Lady Anna Blacknall is in the mood for
mischief. Entering Dublin's most notorious den of vice, she
finds herself in the arms of a mysterious, emerald-eyed
Irishman. And although he is masked, his tender kiss is
hauntingly familiar. Conlan McTeer, Duke of Adair, has come
to Dublin to fight for a free Ireland. But he's suddenly
reunited with the young Englishwoman who had once claimed
his heart, and his passion turns from politics to pleasure.
When their sizzling encounter brings danger to Anna's door,
she must decide where her loyalties lie-and quickly. For
someone will do whatever it takes to destroy Conlan . . .
and anyone he dares to love.
