Mandy Newman's week is full of death and dollars, lots of
them. Mandy is a partner in an all-women law firm in Tampa,
Florida, that handles divorces. Her life is threatened as
she drives home from a busy day at work, anxious to see her
little baby girl, and finds herself the victim of an
attempted murder. A truck rams her car and pushes it off a
bridge where the car sinks to the bottom of the bay. Mandy
fights death and wins. Her wallet, briefcase and a group
lottery ticket that Mandy bought sinks along with her car.
Mandy buys a replacement ticket for her officemates the
next day. She soon discovers that she has the winning
ticket to Florida's biggest Powerball jackpot. That is
until someone steals it, injuring her partner in the
process. The attempt on her life starts a string of murders
and attempted murders among the women in the law firm.
The list of men who have lost in divorce court is long.
Mandy starts to wonder who from her past might want to harm
her. Her partner brings her brother back to town to play
bodyguard to Mandy for the second time. Mandy doesn't want
him assigned to protect her. The last time Zack Taylor
protected her, she became pregnant. Zack doesn't know that
Mandy's little girl is his daughter and she's never wanted
to compromise his attention to his job. Besides, he left
town the last time without even saying goodbye and Mandy
didn't know where to find him. As an undercover DEA agent,
Zack goes on an assignment for long periods. She doesn't
trust that he'll stick around anyway. And she doesn't want
a part-time dad for her daughter.
Zack has never gotten Mandy out of his system. He's just
come out of an assignment gone bad where a child died. He
feels responsible and hasn't been cleared for duty yet, so
protecting Mandy is perfect. He doesn't know what the
future holds, but he knows he's dedicated to his job. Once
his sister is injured and the lottery ticket is stolen,
Zack and Mandy start their own investigation.
One by one, the women are attacked. Mandy decides she needs
to tell Zack about his daughter even though she doesn't
trust him. One look at his daughter and Zack's heartstrings
are pulled tight. There's no way he can leave now. And
Mandy already has his heart. As the two get closer to the
truth, the murderer plots to kill another. Mandy and Zack
put their lives on the line to stop the murders and find
their way back to each other in the process.
Susan Kearney's KISS ME DEADLY is a fast-paced

each other. Their chemistry and the killer's motives stir
up an exciting mix for an exciting summer read.
She and her coworkers picked the
right numbers and hit the jackpot… and then someone stole
the ticket.
Now
Mandy's fellow winners are being murdered one by one, and an
attempted
drowning convinces Mandy she's next on the killer's hit
list. In urgent
need of protection and help to recover the ticket, she finds
both,
wrapped in the sexy form of DEA agent Zachary
Taylor.
But
Zack abandoned Mandy once before, so relying on him doesn't
come easy.
If she's going to trust him, he needs to start telling her
the truth.
And she must do the same—since Mandy has a secret that could
devastate
them both. While on the run, Mandy and Zack struggle between
sparking
