Paranormal | Romance

The Voice of Freedom (Shadow Voice) is still broadcasting rebellion encouraging citizens to repeat the events of 1776, to revolt against unfair taxation and to stand up for freedom and democracy. As Bree "Banzai" Maguire, the symbol of the revolution, sits in a UCE prison awaiting trial for treason, her thoughts are of her missing wingmate, Cameron "Scarlet" Tucker, who was shot down with her 170 years ago and put in bio-stasis. Cam wasn't in the cave where Bree was discovered, so where is she?

Cam has been living in a rustic, remote village along the Rim area in the Asian Kingdom ruled by the Han Emperor, Prince Kyber, the same man who brought Banzai out of stasis months ago. Kyber fancied himself in love with Banzai and was devastated when she thwarted him, escaping with his nemesis, Tyler Armstrong. Kyber has sworn he'll never let his heart rule his emotions again. Kyber, too, is wondering what happened to the other pilot shot down with Banzai. When he hears of a woman matching the missing pilot's description living in the ancient village, he decides to disguise himself and check it out personally. What he discovers is more than he ever anticipated. Cam proves to be even stronger and more impressive than her friend, and Kyber is attracted to Cam more than he'd like to admit.

As revolution threatens to explode in the UCE, Cam must convince Kyber to take a stand by her side and support the changing face of the world. Together they devise a thrilling mission to save Bree and Tyler. As the fate of these four lovers becomes intertwined with the crucial fight for liberty, the conclusion proves to be explosive and satisfying, as well as surprising when you find out who is the Shadow Voice.

Ms. Grant does a fantastic job of tying up all the loose ends in this final chapter to the dynamic 2176 action/adventure series and giving it the kind of closure it deserves. In the end, she brings together all the brave women from the five stories who were instrumental in forging their triumphant new world. Way to go, Susan!
