Romance Historical

New York City, 1883

A Prince Charming meets his match...

Self-made shipping magnate Christopher Black first spies Rebecca Bailey at a masquerade ball and is captivated by her refreshing naivete and sparkling beauty. She's a stark contrast to the hollow behavior of the ton and the guile of his former fiancee, but the closer he gets to her secrets, the further she pushes him away.

A Cinderella with a secret...

Rebecca is drawn to the charismatic Christopher from the first, but she cannot risk him discovering that she is really a housemaid impersonating an heiress. Her father's life depends on it.

A Happily Ever After that could never be...

When Christopher's investigation of the murder of his best friend leads him straight to Rebecca, he fears his ingenue may be a femme fatale in disguise. Now he must decide if he can trust the woman he's come to love, or if her secrets will be his downfall.

Re: Once Upon a Masquerade

Personally, I don't care for the Heroes to be too domineering, although I know they need to be to a fault. By that I mean that I enjoy reading about the Hero who swoops in, and knocks the Heroine off her feet - more on the order of the old-fashioned Romance. When you start talking about Alpha males, domineering, and that sort of thing, to me, it's a bit of a turn-off. They can be a bit domineering, but they also have to have a tender side to them, as well as a humorous side which is more beoming. Your latest book sounds like it's going to be a real-page turner, and I can't wait to read it!! I adore the cover, too!! It's quite a switch from the ladies in ball gowns!! Congratulations on your book!!

Thanks, Peggy! I can see what you're saying about the heroes who are too domineering. Some of it, the protectiveness, is great, but if he's downright controlling, that can be creepy.

I also wanted to take a moment to thank Fresh Fiction for having me here today. This is really a treat!

I love the variety! Something for whatever mood I tend to be in... so many types and personalities to meet between the pages of a book... enjoy them all getting bit by the love bug!

I'm with Colleen -- I like variety in my reading heros! It
all depends on my mood as to what kind of hotness I want to
read about. Although I am not into the 'forced seduction'
novels.

I read a pretty big variety too. It's fun to meet them all.

I favor the Warrior and the Guy Next Door. I'm not much on a
Sweet Talker or Artist/Musician.

Personally, I prefer a man's man, the warrior. I love to watch them crumble when
smitten by the love bug. :0)

Its a toss up between the guy next door and the bad boy. In my real life I tend to go for the bad boy but I know I should go for the guy next door. I love to read about all of them the artsy type is fun to read about.

My Romance Heroes run the gamut, because it depends on my mood at the time. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a funny love story, and at other times I'm in the mood for something I can really sink my teeth into (no pun intended). The only Romance Hero I tend to shy away from is the Hero that is too overbearing. That type tends to turn me off. I adored the cover of your latest book from the first time I laid eyes on it, and I also can't wait to read it!! The excerpt sounds as mysterious as the cover. Congratulations on what I'm sure will hit its' mark as a real hit!!

I like warriors - or historical soldiers.
(
MaryAnne Banks 1:13pm February 16, 2014)

I like heroes of all types even the clueless ones, which
didn't make it on your list.
(
Alyson Widen 4:42pm February 16, 2014)

Thanks, Peggy! You're so sweet!

Janie and Denise, I favor the guy next door in real life, but my reading preferences are all over the board. So many fun guys to read about.
(
Tamara Hughes 7:33pm February 16, 2014)

MaryAnne - Historical men, yeah.

Alyson - Ha! Love it! I'm thinking men in each of these categories can be clueless at times, especially when it comes to women.

My personal favorite is the Warrior. I'm lucky to have a real
life warrior as my husband so I admit, they tend to tug on my
heartstrings more then any other.

I like the CEO and the Warrior types. I love your hero description list.
(
Kai Wong 3:23pm February 17, 2014)

I like the Warrior type. I also like the CEO type as they appear to be a good challenge. Thanks for the giveaway.
