Fantasy Urban | Romance Paranormal

She'd left magic behind

Once upon a time, Elise Sutton had been a powerful witch and paranormal enforcer. Once she'd been madly in love with Fae lord Aidan Greene. But when Aidan had considered his duties more important than their relationship, the love affair ended badly. Shortly after, while on the hunt for a rogue demon, Elise was brutalized and almost killed. Months later she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. To protect her child—and her heart—Elise decided to live a nonmagical life.

Until she meets Aidan again, and he assumes Dina is his daughter. When Dina is kidnapped by a racial purity movement, Elise turns to Aidan for help. The icy facade she has built around herself shatters at Aidan's touch. Together they have to hunt through the human and faery worlds to find Dina...and to discover whether or not they have any kind of chance at a happily ever after.

I have a friend who lives right outside Detroit...It has a lot going for it but just as much or more against it. Hope it successfully comes back.
It is an excellent setting for UF though...really apropos.
(
Ivy Truitt 11:18am November 26, 2010)

Motor City has cars and sports like Hockey, so what's not to like?
(
Alyson Widen 12:03pm November 26, 2010)

I have family living in Michigan and not far from Detroit. Their concerns for it have of course been how the economy has given it such a hard knock. Bu they also love the Zoo there and the Henry Ford Museum.

I've never read your books to be honest, but it sounds like a good read that I'd enjoy.
(
Joanne Bozik 12:17pm November 26, 2010)

Growing up in Detroit, I couldn't think of a better backdrop!! You'll have to consider writing a book about werewolves in Eloise! I think it would be perfect!! I know a lot of the kids like to go through the tunnels there and some of the old buildings before they were demolished. I don't know if the tunnels still exist, but there is plenty of history there. Our city reeks, if you pardon the expression, of history, so it's not a stretch for werewolves and other characters to co-exist with humans throughout the metropolitan area. It's quite a diverse culture. Congratulations on your new book!!

Peggy Roberson 12:33pm November 26, 2010)

I haven't read any of your books yet but it sounds like I need to!! :)

I think Detroit is the PERFECT backdrop for your book Detroit is Fae City. The city is filled with diversity and history which makes the book interesting. Thank you

"Now Meagan's in a race to master her newly released powers in time to prevent the conflict, convince a jealous Queen not to strip Ric of his powers, and find out if she can build a life that straddles two worlds"
This sounds so good I can not wait to read this, Thank you for giving all of us a chance to win this book

Book sounds GREAT and the cover is fun, I'll be adding it to my TBR list.
(
Vickie Hightower 4:48pm November 26, 2010)

I wouldn't have thought Detroit would make a great setting, but you make a compelling argument. It sounds just perfect for supernatural creatures.
(
Barbara Elness 5:00pm November 26, 2010)

Motor City Fae looks amazing. I must catch up with the rest of the series too.
(
Mary Preston 5:09pm November 26, 2010)

It looks very interesting... I would love to read this one for sure...:)
(
Victoria Chico 5:59pm November 26, 2010)

As a kid spending lots of time on Belle Isle, I can imagine the paranormal happening there. I believe that was a hot bed for rum-running during prohibition. Imagine the stories those building could tell.
(
Winnie Kowalski 6:39pm November 26, 2010)

I'm about to be in Detroit for the first time so it's good to get a better perspective!
(
Mary Allen 6:58pm November 26, 2010)

When you think of it, the "rust belt" traits you listed do lend themselves to the
urban fantasy genre. With the influx of paranormal inhabitants, both good and
bad, a revival could be instigated and supported. Sounds like a good series.
(
Patricia Barraclough 7:52pm November 26, 2010)

This sounds great! Thanks for the giveaway!
(
Lisa Garrett 8:05pm November 26, 2010)

I've never seen Detroit.
(
Diane Sadler 8:07pm November 26, 2010)

Thats the reason why I love to read, because of the triumps and the jorney of love.
(
Maria Sanabria 10:00pm November 26, 2010)

I live 20 minutes out of Detroit in a suburb and understand completely why you chose Detroit. Thanks for the giveaway.
(
Brenda Rupp 11:43pm November 26, 2010)

I'm truly thrilled and delighted with this response. Thanks so much to everyone for the lovely comments!
(
Cindy Spencer Pape 1:19am November 27, 2010)

My first reaction to Detroit as an urban fantasy romance setting was extreme skepticism, but after reading your defense of it above, I am forced to admit that you've opened my mind, if not quite made a believer of me,...

yet. That will have to come from reading.
(
Fred Town Ward 12:52pm November 27, 2010)

YES! We Michigander's have to stick together and shout out what a great state we have. Yes we may have some rough edges but what state doesn't. DETROIT ROCKS!!!
(
Barbara Butch 9:38pm November 29, 2010)

I love that you took somewhere we think of as regular and maybe "dirty old car town" and gave it such a different twist! Great imagination (real or fiction)! We all get hung up in our stereo-typing and its good to have our 'eyes' opened!

Thanks for the giveaway!
