Scott Sherman

Scott Sherman is a New York-based writer. He is a staff writer on a new sketch show starring Demetri Martin currently on Comedy Central, as well as a contributor to SNL’s Weekend Update. He also just wrapped up writing and shooting a pilot for Fox/Warrior Poets. Previously, he was a daily contributing writer for The Onion and a writer for the Onion News Network. He has written a documentary for A&E, penned a short story for the New York Times Magazine’s Funny Pages, contributed to the Onion’s Atlas, won a grant in screenwriting from the University of Chicago, and written many other thingeroos (including video games and web campaigns). He served as the producer of the Magnet Theater in New York City and tooled around the Second City in Chicago as an assistant to the producers (while also going through the Second City’s conservatory program). He is also one of the authors of The Dangerous/Dastardly Book for Dogs (Villard/Random House & HarperCollins UK), which to date has been published in ten languages, and is currently working on two new books for Random House due out in the fall of 2008 and 2009. He is a graduate of the University Of Chicago, where he majored in a social thought degree program with a focus on comedy (Formally called Fundamentals: Issues & Texts. Honest to God, it actually says that on his diploma).
