After spending almost twenty years writing book reviews, essays, and short stories that took themselves very seriously, Laura decided to get truly serious and write something fun. Her novels ISABELLA MOON and CALLING MR. LONELY HEARTS are both available from Ballantine books. She also edits—with her husband Pinckney Benedict—SURREAL SOUTH, an anthology series of short fiction. She lives with her husband, two children, and two dogs in rural southern Illinois--a lonely, enchanted sort of place that offers excellent inspiration for writing thrillers.__
