Re: Over My Dead Body (12:50pm November 16, 2009):

Side note: You are on my auto buy list & I buy all your books when they release :)
This is going to be sad, compared to the majority here. We take for granted holidays when we are kids. That these celebrations will always be there. I wish I could go back in time when we were little because that is really the last time we as a whole family got together. My mom had to leave my dad (he was an abusive drunk) Grandma just couldn't believe her son was what we said, not that the bruises weren't enough proof or anything. But were no longer invited to dinners anymore. So for years mom. sis and me did the best we could with what we had. You think when you get married there is another chance to bring families together. Boy was I wrong. I have the best husband in the world. But his goofy mother disowned us. Her only son was now married and she for whatever reason, felt he had his dad and since they were divorced. That was that. Later I found out that women who are seperated and have only 1 child AND its a boy, they get funny about other females in there sons life. So we claimed wholy to his dad and step moms side. But the kicker about this, my step mother in law has never invited my family (Mom & Sis)to their family get togethers (15 Years now) because my mom and sister are not her blood. If that aint a crock. But his dad, who was awesome, would come to my house during the holidays (mostly to dive his wife nuts and get back at her for not letting my family in ) And we really made the best of it until he was killed in the line of duty 2 years ago. So we are back to Mom, sis, hubby and me. Even with all that BS you would think I'd hate the holidays. But I don't. But I really miss being a kid at my grandmas house. On a Happy note, we get plenty of tasty leftovers. As the old sayng goes..When you think life left you with lemons... make lemonade AND the fewer nuts you let into your home the saner your life will be :)
