I always watched The Western movies with my Father as a child...I think that Gary Cooper was a great silent-type Hero. He would do anything to keep his woman safe! I like lots of Heroes from Romance novels...The Highlanders, The Western Guys, and the Historial Gentlemen. The Montgomery Men come to mind.
