Re: The Shadow Guard (11:27pm April 5, 2011):

Diane S - Ooh, another admirer of Roarke! Yes!

Laura - How can I think of anything after you mentioned Gerard Butler???

Re: The Shadow Guard (9:22pm April 5, 2011):

Robin - Wonder if enough of us wished hard enough, our dream of meeting Roarke would come true, the way dreams get fulfilled for Peter Pan?

Lynda - My sister is also a member of Sirius Black's fan club. I think she shares your opinion about that aspect of his grooming in the movies. LOL

Re: The Shadow Guard (9:18pm April 5, 2011):

Jennifer - Somehow I suspect hands are shooting up all over the place to second your vote for Acheron - and your description of him.

Carol - You and me both missed that aspect of Harry Dresden. (That tall? Really?) But I absolutely agree that Emerson is a guy to swoon over at any age.

Cynthia - Any hero that can knock you out with an opening sentence is somebody to grab hold of! (BTW, Shayla Black is an autobuy for my mother. )

Re: The Shadow Guard (9:15pm April 5, 2011):

Colleen - Wow, a girl after my own heart! So many worlds, so many men, how's a girl to choose?

Joanne - Love your description of the ideal hero!

Diane S - Heck yes, the ideal hero should be nice to kids & animals! (Were you psychic to come up with such a great description for Jake's younger brother, the Delta Force sniper?) Glad you enjoyed my post.

Re: The Shadow Guard (1:33pm April 5, 2011):

Jessica - now that you mention it, I'd like to meet Kissten too. Hmm..

Ooh, Carla, wasn't Rhett something else? (fanning myself)

Sandy - Thanks! Hope you enjoy The Shadow Guard!

Re: The Shadow Guard (1:30pm April 5, 2011):

Maude - Good to know somebody else wants to meet Sam Starrett!

Debbie - Lovely to know that Carlo has lived in your head for so long. He
must be incredible!

Susan - Oh, now there's a hard choice to make: Roarke or his mansion?
Well I might be able to get the house away from Eve but never The Man...
Thanks for bringing up some great scenes!

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:52am April 5, 2011):

Renee H - glad Jake piques your interest. Hope you enjoy The Shadow
Guard!

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:50am April 5, 2011):

Lynn - you may have a long list but I like all of the entries.

GS - I too would love to meet Roarke! And Eve too, of course. (I don't
think my thoughts would be entirely proper if we met unchaperoned.).
Glad you enjoyed my column!

Tracie - sounds like you want to get right into the middle of each book and
savor it. Yeehaw!

Marguerite - oh, now there's a heck of a choice - the McKettricks or the
Cynsters? Who to choose? They're all awesome.

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:43am April 5, 2011):

Cathy - yup, Jake was more cantankerous than most heroes in letting me
know what he looks like. Hope you enjoy The Shadow Guard!

Oh Sue - I too would love to meet Qwilkeran in the flesh too.

G - can we meet Emerson together? Yum!

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:39am April 5, 2011):

Renee - some characters demand to look like real-life, which makes
research much easier. It's when they're very clear about they look like and
I can't find an example that I want to tear my hair out.

Dawn - Jake says thank you!

Robin - glad I could help your inner eye a little. Hope you enjoy Jake'/
story!

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:35am April 5, 2011):

Peggy - the Cameron brothers sound like awesome heroes and just the
type I'd adore. Hope you enjoy The Shadow Guard, too!

Thanks, Desiree, for cheering me on! Hope you do blog about The
Shadow Guard.

May - a little imagination always dresses a man very nicely...

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:32am April 5, 2011):

Susan - so glad to meet somebody else who watches Law and Order for
the men!

Jean - I'll just keep imagining with you, okay?

Hollie - I like the images your imagination brings to mind!

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:29am April 5, 2011):

Mary - nothing beats your imagination!

Hey, I want to meet Mr Darcy, too, Pam.

Karen - we can meet Ranger together. Deal?

Re: The Shadow Guard (11:26am April 5, 2011):

Trasina- thanks! Definitely keep my books coming for readers like you!

Leni- thanks for the recommendation! You just bumped that book even
higher on my tar pile. LOL

Oh JuneAnn - Bastian sounds utterly scrumptious!

Re: The Devil She Knows (9:18pm June 22, 2010):

Peggy - That's a very interesting
advantage to a traveler! Gareth
certainly supplied more resilience to
meet Portia's needs, thanks to his
travels, than he would have had if he'd
spent all his life in Kentucky.

Robin - Ah, that's a nice bit of wisdom
and one Gareth certainly agrees with!

Mary - IMHO being courted by a drifter
is more interesting but marriage to a
steady man is more relaxing. Usually.

Pat - Oh yes, he really does need to be
a good man more than anything else,
doesn't he?

Gladys - For a writer, balancing action
and description is always hard. And
we must, must always keep the
emotion coming! Thank you for
reminding me.

Patricia - I agree that both work.
Maybe it's because his setting builds
one type of hero's purpose, while
another type of hero is so strong in
himself that he doesn't need a specific
location. Who knows? Sometimes I
think readers just gravitate to one type
of hero or another; or maybe we seek
different types out at different stages
in our own lives.

But they are both satisfying.

Re: The Devil She Knows (4:49pm June 22, 2010):

Alyson - As an author, I like the way
you think! Travelers are very
mysterious but I do tend to handle
setting as another character.

Yay, Leni! You make me feel so much
better. It does all seem to come down
to motivate, motivate, motivate as to
what will work for a hero, doesn't it?

Jo - Ooh, sometimes travelers just do
tall, dark and sexy the best because
they're so mysterious. Yum.

Re: Captive Desires (11:12pm November 2, 2009):

Joyce - A very dear friend has taught tai chi for years. He's a true artist with it and I can see how much he's grown. You must have discovered something really special in yourself to have come this far. So keep on; it'll only get better!

G and Sue Ann - May I please visit your kitchens? LOL

Mitzi - I'm always looking for somebody else to clean up my kitchen, especially after a particularly spectacular creation. (Like my 4 layer orange cheesecake, for example.) The Irish Devil could definitely distract me too any day though!

Sara - Another fabulous cook! I'm getting hungry all over again.

Barbara - Isn't it amazing how the right partner makes a dance come alive? I hope you meet your dream one day!

Re: Captive Desires (11:06pm November 2, 2009):

Lisa - You actually manage to take good photos at a zoo? Wow! The animals always strike wacko poses behind bars for me. Congrats!

Faeries and embroidery sound awesome, Mary! You must have a gorgeous house and garden. :-)

Brenda, honey, you and I think far too much alike about having lots of irons in the fire!

You can do ballroom and Latin and swing, Brenda R? How fabulous! I hope your body gives you lots of time and grace to enjoy those fabulous dances. (Although books are a great escape, too.)

Isn't watching different kinds of dance fun, Deborah? One week I got to see traditional Spanish dance then the wildest form of modern dance. It was great and absolutely mind boggling. Glad you get to enjoy yourself around dancers, too!

Re: Captive Desires (4:03pm November 2, 2009):

Gail - quilting is a fabulous talent! Quilts can be so beautiful.

Re: Captive Desires (4:02pm November 2, 2009):

Kathleen - A beautifully decorated table is so pretty! Just looking at the glasses sparkle in the light, the silver gleam, and the tablecloths glow makes me feel good. It takes a lot of creativity to pull all those elements together! Glad you enjoy my Devil series and I hope you find your way to my paranormals one day.

Hey, Kelli, isn't it awesome they're putting so much dancing on TV now? Yes!

Oh, wow, Karin, cats make me think of shapeshifters, too! Very elegant and yet dangerous at the same time.

Ah, Rosemary, isn't wonderful how many places have come alive in books for us?

Pat - Bet your Yorkies like to help you read, just so they can curl up against you!

Darci - Books are a wonderful comfort, aren't they? Thanks for welcoming me into your world!

Wow, Alyson, you actually got through a Modern Dance class? I am in awe! I too can't imagine how those dancers on TV can get so good so fast.

Hey, Jody, can I come over to your house some time and learn some of your recipes? They sound awesome!

Theresa - Old houses and costumes are a fabulous escape! I get a lot of my ideas from visiting old estates.

You're a girl after my own heart, Vikki. I too would like to folks singing and stomping through the puddles whenever it rains, especially on a day like yesterday. LOL

It would be wonderful if mythological creatures came alive, Josephine Marie. I'd love to talk to a unicorn.

Re: Captive Desires (12:42pm November 2, 2009):

Oh, Teresa, are you asking me to pick a favorite choreographer on SYTYCD??? Hah! Three cheers for Donny, though. Isn't he just showing those young pups a few new tricks? LOL

Thanks, Angela! I hope you like both Captive books.

Hey, Stefanie, I love crocheting. Not much good at knitting but a friend taught me how to fake it in crocheting.

Yo, Kimberley - watching a book in your head is brilliant! Do hear the characters' voices, too? Bravo!

Graphic design and dancing sounds awesome, Kandie d! Especially since you can work your cares away through them. Yay!

Wow, GS, you're a gardener? Isn't it miraculous to see things grow and become beautiful! I think that's just as creative as writing.

Diane - a reader adds a lot of herself, every time she reads the book. Discover something different, find a new character, add a new emotion in your life. I'm always amazed by what readers teach me about my own books.

Re: Captive Desires (9:30am November 2, 2009):

Oh, Tracey, I love to watch people decorate cakes on the Food Network! How marvelous that you can pull it off. And a guy who's tough on the outside but a big marshmallow on the inside sounds absolutely perfect. Can I join your fantasy, too?

Stacy - I too love Christine Feehan's vampires. Some of her vamps could visit me any day.

Thank you, Marjorie! I do try to make my characters come alive on the page.

Joanne - Wouldn't it be wonderful to spread your wings and float through the air? But visiting bookstores is probably better done on two legs.

Hey, Carrie! Thanks for the good words about my Devil series! I too adore writing the historicals - and I'm in total awe of anybody who can paint. But I too love to visit museums and just visit the great art. I even love sculpture gardens.
