After a bad break-up, Marin loves being in control of her life – her time, her boat, and her travels. She loves being on the sea and seeing the world. With her new boat, she transports messages and packages. She travels with Perri, a sea serpent she helped rescue, and Ree, a sentient plant who dreams of traveling.
One day she enters the capital city of Alyssium and realizes something is very wrong. There are no guards, no one is walking the streets, and everything is quiet. When she arrives at the conservatory, she spies her friend Dax, a very talented musician. She learns there’s been a revolution and the Empire is falling. Dax and his musician friends request safe passage away from the capital city.
Marin transports the group to safety. When it comes time to leave, Dax isn’t interested in saying goodbye anymore than she is. He’d like to continue his travels.
As Marin and her new crew travel together, they attempt to help others as they look for jobs that will help Marin pay off her family’s debt and finally be rid of her ex-fiancé once and for all. Can they sail into their happily ever after?
THE SEA OF CHARMS is the third book in the Spellshop series – and while they can be read as standalones, they are connected. This book starts prior to the previous books, but quickly moves forward in time. Readers will get a glimpse of favorite characters from the first two books. I love how this found family: Marin, Perri, Ree, and Dax came together and found each other. I loved them traveling to new locations and having adventures together. This book is a cozy read filled with hope, friendship, and will make readers long for adventures.
