Anne Elliot doesn’t know what to do with her life anymore. Her father’s divorce means she’s losing both her home and her job. She has some savings, but not much. When a girl in her apartment building offers to rent her a room, Anne jumps at the chance. At least one problem is solved.
Fredrick needs a place to live after moving back to New York from Argentina. His real estate agent has been showing him all kinds of places, but this newest place on Avenue A has potential. He remembers that his first love lived on the street somewhere. He has no idea that he is purchasing the apartment that used to be Anne’s.
When Anne and Fredrick meet again after she broke his heart eight years ago, it’s awkward. But fate keeps throwing them together. Could they have unfinished business?
ANNE OF AVENUE A is Jane Austen’s Persuasion retold at Christmas. While this is the third companion novel (the first is Emma and the second is Pride and Prejudice), each title is a standalone. You do see characters from the previous two books. This second-chance romance hits all the right notes; Fredrick writes Anne letters, keeping with that famous scene. The secondary characters often steal their scenes. If you’re a Jane Austen fan, you won’t want to miss this one!
