In less than two months, Ruby is moving to England to fulfil the dream she and her mother once shared of opening a country inn. Now that it’s just Ruby, she’s setting off to make their dreams come true. While she doesn’t have hospitality experience, she does work at a luxury retail store.
On a whim, she purchases a Christmas tree. She has trouble carrying it back to her apartment. Luckily, a man offers to carry it for her, even though he makes his disdain for Christmas known. Ruby is grateful for the help, but also happy that she will never see him again. Then she discovers that her friends know his family and they own a chain of hotels in England.
Ruby and Rashid meet again at a Christmas parade. Rashid is staying with his sister to help out with her twins as she goes through a nasty divorce. Rashid isn’t a fan of Christmas, but he does want to make it special for his nieces. He’s unsure how to accomplish it. Ruby comes up with an idea. She will plan Christmas activities for the four of them and in return Rashid will introduce her to his parents and recommend her for a job. The more time they spend together, the more she realizes that her first impression of him was wrong.
A LITTLE HOLIDAY FLING is a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice set in Toronto, Canada at Christmas. Ruby and Rashid are Indian and therefore traditionally do not celebrate Christmas. For Ruby, Christmas is a reminder of all the special moments with her mother. She showcases her love for the holiday while planning outings for Rashid and the girls. I loved the banter between Ruby and Rashid that quickly became chemistry. The twin girls were super cute and I loved how they came out of their shell. I loved Rashid’s big family, especially his two sisters. While Ruby didn’t have a family, her mom died and her father is terrible, she does have a lovely group of friends that become her family. Farah Heron pens a holiday romance that’s sweet, full of family and friends, and glitters with holiday magic.
