WILLING PREY started as a novella for new author Allie Oleander that expanded into her full-length debut novel exploring an unusual sexual kink. So, I enjoy reading erotic romance and was intrigued enough by the book summary even though I had never heard of primal play behavior. It involves partners playing a very grown-up game of hide and seek in outdoor settings. The chase and capture stimulate the participants sexually, resulting in consensual but savage “happy endings”. It seemed like a good plan for Claire Collins to pay off her husband’s law school loans first and then they would both pay off hers. Except now she is divorced and saddled with all her debt on a teacher’s salary. When her husband’s boss, Shane Underwood, offers her a fortune to live with him as his prey all summer, she just cannot refuse. But little does Claire know that Shane has been quietly infatuated with her and waiting for his chance since he overheard about the lifestyle Claire enjoys. Characters and story were interesting, but I personally didn’t find the brutality sexy.
An exhilarating, primal summer fling reveals an intensely sexy, edgy romance, where anything goes in the woods—just remember your safe word.
Post-divorce and buried in student loan debt, Claire Collins eagerly enters a spicy business agreement with an acquaintance who wants to explore his primal desires. The deal is simple—thirty days as his sexual prey, $30,000 in her bank account. All she has to do is give Shane Underwood the hunt of his life.
Claire’s a physical education teacher and perfectly happy to spend her summer having wild, kinky sex instead of working her usual serving job. But once they cross the tree line, she realizes how little she knows about the corporate lawyer paying her to be his prey.
Shane is different in the woods. Brutal. Devastating. Feral.
That’s okay with Claire—she is, too. And she’s sinking her teeth a little deeper into Shane’s heart every time he catches her.
