In Kennedy Ryan's latest from the Skyland Series, we finally follow up with Hendrix Berry, the life and work of the popular, rich auntie and best friend we met in the first two books of the series. In CAN'T GET ENOUGH, Hendrix is a talent manager and venture capitalist supporting small and upcoming women entrepreneurs from her community.
In the previous books, when we meet Hendrix, she’s this rich, glamourous auntie to the kids of the heroines of those books and best friends with the main characters. She is an entrepreneur who is financially and physically secure in her own skin. We see a nonchalant auntie who loves to spoil her friends' kids and is a firm supporter of her best friends. In her own story, Hendrix is a daughter and niece looking after her elderly mother and aunt long-distance. She knows her passions, her money and more importantly, what her heart wants, personally and professionally. She is financially secure with a smart head on her shoulders. On the cusp of breaking into television as a producer, she meets a man who promises to break every one of her rules when it comes to dating and love, but not limited to her work, crossing into her reputation too.
During one of her networking events for work as a manager, she meets her acquaintance and soon-to-be work partner’s boyfriend, Maverick. Without realising who he is, Hendrix and Maverick hit it off, though disappointment soon hits Hendrix once she realises who he is. Falling for his ex’s business contact when they’ve just broken up doesn’t come easily for Maverick either.
Next, we see Maverick and Hendrix fall for each other despite their resistance and walking the delicate line of their public personas. With his ex creating drama and controversies for both of them, it comes to a point where they have to choose what's worth fighting for. Once they both decide to give each other a chance, it's a tough road ahead that they walk on together, hand in hand.
- I loved the individuality of the heroine in this story, especially when it comes to standing by her choices regarding marriage and children.
- The friendship dynamic in this series is strong as ever, and the loyalty the friends have towards each other is admirable. So is the ass kicking and keeping each other grounded and hyping wherever required.
- The combination of a woman with brains, beauty and having a piece of her cake at the end of the day is a joy to witness.
- I enjoyed watching Hendrix, who, as a daughter, is dedicated to her small family. As a friend, she is an asset to have by one’s side. As a lover, she is soft, passionate, with a quiet strength and her own individuality. As an entrepreneur, she is wonderful, who not only strives to excel but is smart enough to wait and pull back and apologise as per the demands of the situations she is in.
For fans who have loved the Skyland Series, this will be a great read and one they'll enjoy after meeting and loving Hendrix in the previous two books. For a new reader picking this up, it's a story of an empowered woman they'll meet who goes for what she wants in life and at work, in a graceful manner.
Hendrix Barry lives a fabulous life. She has phenomenal friends, a loving family, and a thriving business that places her in the entertainment industry's rarefied air. Your vision board? She’s probably living it.
She’s a woman with goals, dreams, ambitions—always striving upward. And in the midst of everything, she's facing her toughest challenge yet: caring for an aging parent.
Who has time for romance? From her experience, there's a low ROI on relationships. She hasn't met the man who can keep up with her anyway. Until...him.
Tech mogul Maverick Bell is a dilemma wrapped in an exquisitely tailored suit and knee-melting charm. From their first charged glance at the summer's hottest party, Hendrix feels like she’s met her match. Only he can’t be. Mav may be the first to make her feel this seen and desired and appreciated, but he’s the last one she can have. Forbidden fruit is the juiciest, and this man is off limits if she plans to stay the course she’s set for herself.
