This medical romance features surgeon Sam Powell in Kingston, Jamaica. He’s stunned when the neurologist he has to meet at the airport turns out to be Chloe Bailey. They previously met at a conference. CHRISTMAS MIRACLE IN JAMAICA shows that sometimes good can come of doing something unplanned.
The divorced Chloe, who works in Kensington in England, has had enough of undermining men. She intends to be independent. At the conference, she had a one-night stand with the attractive gentleman Sam, and much to her surprise, there were consequences. Chloe hadn’t expected she could ever have a baby, but one is on the way. She doesn’t know until she’s arrived on temporary assignment to scenic Jamaica for Christmas.
The Christmas Project is the title of a four-part series, bringing the keen doctors to where they can pass on skills and make friends. Chloe’s grandparents came from Jamaica, so she’s thrilled to discover their home. Setting a romance in the Caribbean over the holiday period is a brilliant idea. Everyone still wants to celebrate, sunscreen, beach swimming and all. I love the variety of local foods enjoyed by our characters. Just as much, I appreciate the constant case discussion and reminders that these people carry out valued and essential work.
Meeting the father of her baby again was a shock for Chloe, but she’s economically independent. Unlike many women, she can be a lone parent if needed. The only question is whether Sam wants any part in what happens next.
Ann McIntosh has written a cheerful, upbeat romance about successful people who are perhaps the victims of their hard work ethic. Getting to their current status has come at the cost of relationships. Families want them to be happy as well as qualified. CHRISTMAS MIRACLE IN JAMAICA is something of a fantasy, and I can’t recommend the one-night stand situation. But here it works out, and the reader is pleased.
