Inspirational | Romance Suspense

Robyn Lowry is a key witness in a forthcoming trial, and she’s being protected by the U.S. Marshals. These good folks seem to be very good and very bad at their job in these suspense stories. They always know what to do to keep a witness safe, but invariably, someone gives the game away from the inside. HIDING HIS HOLIDAY WITNESS is Slade Brooks, a U.S. marshal in Colorado.

Yes, it’s winter, not very nice to be in a safe house near Christmas. This Justice Seekers series of action-packed suspense stories follows Robyn as a witness to a seller of illegal arms. She was admin manager of a big furniture store, but some spreadsheet anomalies made her go to check out the boxes of stock for herself. The result is that she’s being hidden away until she can testify. Unfortunately, the safe house is compromised. Slade and his teammate, U.S. Deputy Marshal Colt Nelson, evacuate them all urgently, but Robyn falls down some steps and hits her head. She’s safe again, but she’s lost portions of her memory - with only five days until the trial.

This romantic suspense kept me hooked as the team moved from home to cabin to motel, fell into icy rivers, warded off hypothermia, and switched vehicles. If ever anyone was determined to keep their charge safe, that’s Slade and Colt. The danger is very real, with bullets flying. You may not want to put the book down once you start. The romance is understated, but we are pleased to see it developing.

Prolific author of inspirational romance, Laura Scott, provides shocking twists for Robyn, who has a lot to cope with, not least, as she points out, having no job to return to. HIDING HIS HOLIDAY WITNESS is right up to date and always interesting. The holiday season is definitely not anyone’s priority, so the title just indicates the weather near Denver, which is cold, cold, cold.

SUMMARY

From USA TODAY bestselling author Laura Scott

Keeping out of sight

is the only way to survive.

A frantic call from a witness whose Colorado safe house is breached sends US marshal Slade Brooks to Robyn Lowry’s side at Christmastime. But when he reaches her, she doesn’t remember him—or the crime she witnessed. With the trial just days away, someone won’t stop until Robyn’s dead. And while she might recover her memory in time, keeping Robyn alive long enough to testify is Slade’s hardest mission.
